In the community of Bari Brahmana in Jammu & Kashmir District, India, Asia Region, many families continue to face challenges accessing basic healthcare services. For vulnerable individuals, conditions such as diabetes and hypertension often go undetected due to limited access to routine medical care and health education.
Demonstrating remarkable commitment and compassion, volunteers of the VMC Kanyakumari Chapter traveled over 3,337 kilometers from Kanyakumari to Jammu & Kashmir to bring healthcare support to underserved communities in need.
Through this medical outreach, more than 100 beneficiaries received free medical screenings, doctor consultations, general health assessments, and essential medications. The outreach also led to the identification of new cases of diabetes mellitus and systemic hypertension, enabling individuals to receive timely medical attention and guidance for better health management.
Beyond treatment, this outreach promoted greater awareness about preventive healthcare and healthy living, encouraging community members to take proactive steps toward improving their well-being.
One of the beneficiaries shared her gratitude after discovering she had high blood pressure during the screening:
“I did not know anything was wrong because I felt normal most of the time. Thanks to this outreach, I was able to speak with a doctor, receive medication, and learn how to take better care of my health. I am truly grateful for this support.”
This outreach reflects the Volunteer Medical Corps commitment to reaching vulnerable communities with compassionate and accessible healthcare, regardless of distance or location.
Together, we can continue to make healthcare accessible to those who need it most. Your support through partnership, sponsorship, volunteering, or donations can help bring healing, hope, and healthier futures to more communities around the world.
