According to the World Health Organization, every minute, 17 people die from cancer, and over 9.8 million people die every year from the cancer-related condition. In marking world cancer day in February, the Volunteer Medical Corps set out to change the narrative; our volunteers in different VMC chapters around the world shined the Light of Hope through different ways such as education on the awareness, prevention of cancer and its risk factors, sharing the gospel with cancer patients, and making available relief materials and cash gifts.
VMC Buea, Cameroon, was not left out, as they shined the Light of Hope to cancer patients at Mbingo Baptist Hospital, Mutengene. They reached out to over 50 patients, distributed several donation packages, financial support, and provided makeover sessions to female patients. We thank the volunteers of VMC Buea for restoring hope.
