There are also numerous accounts of physical and mental health situations throughout the expanse of
refugee camps. Because of the horrific violence some of these refugees have seen, they suffer from Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which sometimes leads to suicide attempts, anxiety, depression, and
much more. Accessing quality learning, formal education, skill-building opportunities and more are also
some of the recurrent problems faced in a refugee camp.
Following a preliminary needs assessment, VMC Limbe Chapter carried out outreach to families residing
in the Tumata and Ebongo refugee camps in Cameroon. The team delivered a health education session
and then distributed relief supplies and Christian literature to those present.
