VMC DONATES MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO THE ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN TEACHING HOSPITAL
Benin, Edo State March 2020- Volunteer Medical Corps; a registered non-governmental organization and a member agency of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International, today donated medical equipment to the management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Ugbowo Benin-City, Edo State in support of their care for cancer patients in the hospital’s oncology department.
Cash endowments were also presented to the cancer patients who were on admission in the Oncology wards by the Senior Executive Officer of the NGO; Dr. Olajumoke Akisanya; who was representing the Chairperson of the organization; Dr. Deola Phillips.
These donations were given as part of the activities of the VMC’s Light of Hope Project; a campaign designed to raise awareness about cancer and its risk factors and to promote healthier lifestyle choices and relevant cancer-related screening among the populace.
Through the Light of Hope Project, volunteers with the Volunteer Medical Corps had carried out hundreds of humanitarian acts using the project as a platform to demonstrate love and compassion for those living with cancer by presenting hundreds of them with gifts and Christian literature; to inspire in them; hope for life.
These gifts provided by the Volunteer Medical Corps which are valued in millions of naira was acclaimed by those present as a significant contribution to ensuring better health care access for those living with cancer within Edo and its neighboring States.
