VMC Durban South Africa Responds to Fire outbreak

  • Oct 20, 2020

Jikajoe Informal Settlement in Durban, South Africa is one of the communities adopted by the VMC Durban Group for their Community Volunteering Project. Numerous medical programs have been executed to improve the health status of the displaced and impoverished families living in this temporary settlement. On the 23rd of September 2020, a fire broke out in this community causing many of the residents to flee for their lives with meagre possessions. The VMC Durban Group mobilised actively and carried out a humanitarian medical relief mission to these families who had now been relocated to a hall located in Pietermaritzburg. The team provided free medical care, prescription medications; especially for those with chronic medical conditions, hygiene packs, personal care kits and food supplies to all present . They also ministered to them God’s word.
