Blood transfusion is an essential component of the health care system in every country; it saves lives and improves health thus everyone should have access to safe blood transfusions, when and where they may need them.
As part of their contribution to ensuring an adequate supply of safe blood for the management of patients with complications associated with medical and surgical procedures; VMC volunteers in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria organized a voluntary blood drive in partnership with the Trauma Care International Foundation and the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service. It is expected that similar projects will safeguard the continued availability of safe blood for transfusions at health facilities within the state.
