Dr. Francis, a Pediatrician and a member of the Volunteer Medical Corps in Abuja, Nigeria received a distress call from a confused family about their aged grandmother who had recently complained of sudden onset of severe abdominal pain.
The COVID 19-related restrictions on hospital admissions had further heightened their anxiety about her condition. He however visited their home and carried out a physical examination on the woman, and discovered a large right sided abdominal mass which caused her to be rushed immediately to the nearest hospital.
On arrival, she was prepped and wheeled in for an emergency surgery which saved her life!
His presence ensured she was treated immediately.
She has since been discharged and is now back with her family.
