In Alapere, like in many parts of Lagos, access to quality healthcare remains a challenge for families who face the daily pressures of survival. Rising costs of medical services and limited awareness of preventive care mean that many residents endure health conditions in silence until they become critical.
It was against this backdrop that the Volunteer Medical Corps LZ1 chapter organized a free medical outreach to meet the urgent needs of the community. The program offered free consultations, health screenings, medications, and health education to hundreds of residents. From mothers bringing their children for checkups to elderly citizens receiving care they had long postponed, the outreach touched lives in practical and heartfelt ways.
Beyond treatment, the initiative brought hope. One grateful beneficiary shared, “I had been feeling unwell for months, but couldn’t afford to see a doctor. Today, I not only saw a doctor, I also received medicine and advice on how to live healthier."
The Alapere outreach is a reflection of VMC's commitment to extending compassion through healthcare and humanitarian services — building healthier, stronger communities, one step at a time.
