To the displaced persons occupying temporary shelters in Sion Hill; located in the island Caribbean nation of St Vincent & the Grenadines, the visit by members of the Volunteer Medical Corps SVG Chapter brought great joy and excitement.
Just few weeks ago, they woke up to a deadly volcanic eruption which caused them and thousands of others within the island to lose their homes. The La Soufrière volcano began erupting on the main island of Saint Vincent & the Grenadines on the 9th of April causing the displacement of about 20,000 people and leaving the entire population of the main island without access to clean water and electricity.
It was indeed an ordeal few had planned or prepared for and many sought refuge in shelters.
Our team of VMC volunteers, in response to this humanitarian problem provided food supplies, potable water, personal care items and medical care in Sion Hill to aid these displaced persons.
Through this out show of love and kindness, many of these persons came to know the kindness and everlasting love of our Lord Jesus.
We all have opportunities daily to express kindness to those around us, let us take advantage of all these presented to us to pass on these love we have received.
