10 KEY POINTS ABOUT THE EBOLA VIRUS INFECTION 

1.       It is caused by  Ebola Virus which is  usually present in bats, chimpanzees, bush animals 

2.       It is spread by direct contact with body fluids of infected sick people 

3.       The people most at risk for Ebola virus infection are family members of sick infected people, health care workers and people who care for infected dead bodies 

4.       Early symptoms include  fever, nausea, tiredness, headache 

5.       Late symptoms include  cough, vomit, diarrhea containing blood, direct bleeding from nose and mouth 

6.       Keep away from dead Ebola-infected persons because they are more infectious 

7.       Avoid contact with blood, vomit, feces, urine, body  fluids of an infected person 

8.       Maintain good personal hygiene, ensure regular and proper handwashing using soap and water 

9.       Avoid eating bush meat and meat from unknown sources 

10.   With suspected  infected persons,  call the medical center and inform them about the illness
